Grand Opening

1 December 2026 - 2 February 2027 Miami
Overview

After more than a decade in London, Omer Tiroche Gallery is delighted to open its first gallery in the United States, in the heart of Sunset Harbour, Miami Beach. To mark the occasion, the Grand Opening exhibition brings together an exceptional group of works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Alexander Calder, Pablo Picasso, Gerhard Richter, Frank Stella, and Andy Warhol, among other Modern and contemporary masters, in which the gallery specialises.

Omer Tiroche's grandfather founded Galerie Jean Tiroche in Palm Beach in 1968, marking a significant moment in the family's art legacy. Nearly sixty years later, the business is in its third generation and back in Florida. Founded in London in 2014, Omer Tiroche Gallery has established an international reputation for its curated exhibitions grounded in scholarship and connoisseurship. The programme has included in-depth surveys of artists such as Pablo Picasso, Egon Schiele, and Yayoi Kusama, as well as thematic exhibitions exploring Abstraction, Portraiture, Surrealism, and Op Art.

Among the exhibition's highlights is Frank Stella's Scramble: Green Double/Left N, Right 8, 1977. This piece masterfully uses concentric squares and saturated colour to capture the viewer's eye. The push and pull of values optimise a visual "scramble", creating a pulsing optical illusion. Amid logic and abstraction, gestural forms emerge in Joan Mitchell's Untitled, 1958. With dynamic, slashing strokes ranging from transparent to opaque, this piece powerfully conjures movement and texture, solidifying it as a hallmark of Abstract Expressionism.

While Mitchell was still in her early career, Jean Dubuffet coined Art Brut, or "raw art", made outside academic tradition. His practice expanded beyond paint and canvas into assemblage, sand and other natural materials. Dubuffet's L'homme à la toque, 1956, draws inspiration from the walls of Paris, where graffiti-like mark-making found its way onto the artist's canvas.

Together, these works offer a vibrant survey of Modern, Post-War, and contemporary art, and a first taste of what's to come from the gallery in Miami Beach. The gallery is thrilled to join one of the most dynamic art communities in the country, and looks forward to welcoming collectors, institutions, and visitors through its doors.
